例句-1: Did you hear about that pilot who had to jump out of his plane at twenty thousand feet? His parachute 1 didn't open. But he wasn't even scratched 2 - he landed in a twelve foot snow bank in the mountains. Now, isn't that one for the books!

2: I try to fix Michael up with my sister's classmate Mary. But I was stunned 3 to see that they knew each. It so happened that they were introduced by someone before but weren't attracted to each other. Well, this is something really for the books.

下面我们再给大家介绍一个和book这个字有关的习惯用语:to know someone like a book. To know someone like a book就是对某人非常了解,了解他的一身经历,他的脾气、他的观点、想法和希望等。

3: We've been married 4 now for thirty years - long enough to know my wife like a book. I can tell what she is thinking 5 about before she knows it herself.

4: Jack 6 told me that he's going to take everything easy when he starts his new job at a big company. But since I know him like a book, I don't believe a word of what he is saying. I'm sure he'll continue working very hard trying to be perfect.
