Fridays are awesome 1. I am Carl Luis. Weldcome to the weekly last edition of CNN student news. Could part of Ukraine succeed from the country and come to part of Russia? That is the question. The protest in the capital who have ousted 2 the Ukraine president wer the Urainians who want closer ties with Europe. But in Crimea a region of Southern Ukraine,  many people identify  more with Russia, and its local government decided 3 to hold a vote later this month to let Crimeans  decide wether they want Russia or Europe. Ucraine government says this is an  illegislative decision. And president Obama who supports the pro-Europe Ucrainians says borders can be  redrawn without a approval form the democratically elected leaders. But Russia says Ukraine's government has broke the law when it kicked out its democratically elected president. And Crimea is important to Russia. It gives Russia navy access to the Black Sea. The standoff has international diplomats 4 working around the clock to find a peaceful solution.

Next up today. The US and South Korea have been ally  since Korean War. Every year the two nations team up for a series of military exerciese. And every year it makes North Korea mad. North Korea has been launching rockets into the ocean. They are not aimed at any thind or anyone in particular. But one rocket came uncomfortably close to one of the Chinese passenger jet.

South Korea is  calling it a very dangerous situation. Defence ministry 5 says that a Chinese passenger jet which had more than two hundred people onboard flew through the trajectory 6 of the North Korea rocket, which had been fired just seven minutes earlier.  The  China Airline was flying on Tuesday from Narato inJapan to Shenyang in China. Airline officials did not respond to CCN for comment. The rocket was just one of seven that Pingyong fired that day.  China says they will seek provication from relevant parties and  expresse their concern. When relevant country conduct drills, or trial, it should take measure to ensure safety of survaillance in aircraft or ships, in their relevant area and  maritime space according international law.

South Korea says the North has not given any navigational warning for the rockets. Pingyong says that recent rocket fire has not affected 7 relevant internaitonal order, although it may not mention of the chinese plane. North Korea claims  that these rockets tests are justified 8 in their self defence saying that US-South Korea joint 9 military drills in fact are a provocation 10 that on Monday.  The US says these rokets tests do violate UN security council resolutions
