1.The world's largest test of AIDS vaccine 1 is being hailed as a breakthrough because it's the first time an experimental vaccine has prevented infection with the virus. Researchers in Thailand say the vaccine cuts the risk of being infected with HIV by almost a third.

3.Authorities in Kentucky are investigating whether a census 3 worker's job may have contributed to his death. Bill Sparkman was found hanged from a tree, the word 'fed" scrawled 4 across his chest. The FBI is now investigating whether Sparkman was a victim of anti-government sentiment.


4.Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is expected to announce an interim 5 successor to Senator Ted 2 Kennedy today. The temp will serve in the Senate until Massachusetts voters elect a permanent replacement 6 in January. Senator Kennedy's sons have pushed for the governor to appoint former Democratic Party Chairman Paul Kirk.
