 在生活中,有关数字的表达,有时候不是1、2、3、4……就能说清的,很多情况下,我们要用到”第一“、”第二“、”第三“……,在英语中,这类数词被叫做”序数词“。常见的有以下几种情景:


  1.询问日期:
  Q:What's the date today? 今天几号?
  A:It's March (the) sixth 1. 今天3月6日。
  2.描述名次
  She was 2 the third in the exam 3. 她那次考试第三名。
  3.描述先后次序
  He came 4 in first. 他第一个进来。
  除了描述日期以外,其他用到序数词的情况都明显包含了”次序“的含义,大家不假思索就知道什么情况下要用到序数词了。
  怎么把基数词变成序数词?
  1.从1-19,一般情况下(除特殊情况以外)只要在基数词后面加上-th就可以了,读作-[θ],如下所示:
  特殊拼写:
  1 one → first 2 two → second 3 three → third 5 five → fifth 5
  8 eight → eighth 6 9 nine → ninth 7 12 twelve → twelfth 8
  规则拼写:
  2.从20开始,10的整数倍:将词尾y变成ie,再加-th构成
  例:30 thirty → thirtieth 9 50 fifty → fiftieth
  70 seventy → seventieth 90 ninety → ninetieth
  3.hundred,thousand,million的序数词均在其后加-th构成,即hundredth,thousandth,millionth
  序数词念法:把最后一个基数词变成序数词
  例:156 one hundred and fity-sixth
  1278 one thousand two hundred and seventy-eighth
  200 two hundredth

  • He was the sixth to arrive.他是第六个到达的。
  • The sixth boy in line is my brother.排第六的男孩是我的弟弟。
v.(is,am的过去式)是,在
  • He said he was right.他说他是正确的。
  • He was cold and hungry.他又冷又饿。
n.(=examination)检查;考试
  • I hope to pass this exam.我希望通过这次考试。
  • His exam results were good.他的测验成绩不错。
v.动词come的过去式
  • I was surprised why he came here so early.他为什么那么早到这里,我很惊奇。
  • The doctor came in time to save his life.医生及时来抢救他的生命。
num.第五;n.五分之一
  • It's the fifth door on the right.右边第五个门。
  • I like to sit in about the fifth row.我想坐在第五排左右。
n.八分之一;num.第八
  • It is on the eighth page.它在第八页上。
  • August is the eighth month of the year.八月是一年中的第八个月。
adj.第九,九分之一
  • He is coming back on the ninth of May.他五月九号回来。
  • September is the ninth month of the year. 九月是一年中的第九个月。
num.第十二;n.十二分之一
  • It's November the twelfth.今天是十一月十二日。
  • December is the twelfth month of the year.12月是一年中的第12个月。
num.第三十
  • A day is about one thirtieth of a month.一天大约是一个月的三十分之一。
  • I'd like to go to Shanghai on December thirtieth.我12月30号想要去上海。
