LJUBLJANA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Slovenia's tourism industry is making headway when the number of foreign visitors continued increasing in the past summer tourist season, according to a survey by the Statistics 1 Office on Wednesday.
The June-August tourist season witnessed visitor numbers breaking record by rising three percent while overnight 2 stays were up two percent as compared with the same period of last year.
Of all foreign visitors, people from Italy, Germany, Austria and The Netherlands accounted for more than 40 percent, the survey shows.
A total of 3.3 million tourists visited Slovenia in 2012, which is 2.5 percent more than the previous year.
Slovenia's tourism, which accounts for 12 percent of GDP in the country, is planning to increase revenue 3 from incoming tourism by 50 percent to three billion euros (3.9 billion U.S. dollars) by 2016.
