British Prime Minister David Cameron arrived in China Monday morning for a three day visit hoping to boost bilateral 1 ties with the world’s second largest economy. Chinese Premier 2 Li Keqiang welcomed Cameron to the Great Hall of the People, where their discussion focused on deepening economic and trade cooperation.

It’s the first time UK Prime Minister David Cameron has visited China since Premier Li Keqiang took office in March this year. Cameron is traveling with six of his cabinet ministers as well as major business leaders and officials from universities, healthcare centers and sports institutions.

The two leaders oversaw 3 the signing of 10 cooperation agreements, including a treaty on criminal matters, a pact 4 on space exploration, and agreements on enhancing bilateral investment and developing China’s use of gas.

Li said Cameron’s visit was highly productive.

"This visit enables us to review the outcomes of our mutual 5 investment. China and Britain should continue to make efforts to work together to promote mutual learning and exchanges between the two countries. We have exchanged views on practical cooperation and reached important agreements in five areas, including infrustucuture fiscal 6 and financial cooperation. The China-UK relationship is becoming more strategic, reciprocal and globally important. " said, Li Keqiang, Chinese Premier.

Cameron echoed Li’s assessment 7, adding that Britain’s want a closer partnership 8 with China.

"I see China’s rise as a opportunity not just for this country, but for Britain and for the world. Britain wants China to realize its dream, and I believe we can help each other succeed in the global race. I think the way forward for Britain and China is more openness and dialogue, delivering mutual benefits here and back at home." said David Cameron, British Prime Minister.

Cameron also said he will champion an EU-China trade deal, which could be worth up to 1.8 billion British pounds a year to the British economy.

Earlier on Monday, the British P-M attended a China-UK business summit in Beijing where ideas on reducing trade barriers, enhancing cooperation in nuclear power and high-speed railways were discussed.

David Cameron’s visit to China is very significant for boosting bilateral ties. The high-level exchanges will help promote trade and economic cooperation and strengthen business links between the two nations. Both sides are working to develop a healthy and stable relationship with mutual trust and understanding.
