Video of China's Wonders Adds Luster 1 to NYC's Times Square

Amid various commercial advertisements on the glistening 2 billboards 3 at Times Square, the new video clip on the "China Screen" at 2 Times Square, featuring China's natural and historical beauty, has added some exotic and artistic 4 flavor to this world-renowned 5 tourist destination.

Many passers-by have watched the video, with some slowing their pace to watch it, and some just taking seats on the square to enjoy the visual exploration.

Suzy and her friend Anna Bella are two elderly locals who say there's little chance for them to travel to China, but still they find it wonderful to see beautiful Chinese scenery on the big screen at Times Square.

"I haven't seen it before, but I mean for me, I think it is marvelous that we can see since we cannot go there, you know, see at least something like that here, we have so many nice views. And it is nice to see it, nice to see something different."

"I agree, it's great to see different sceneries of different countries. New York is a melting port for different cultures."

The 50-second video, themed " Explore China a Land of Endless Wonders," covers renowned Chinese tourist destinations including the Great Wall, the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Potala Palace in Lhasa, and much more. It will run 48 to 120 times each day for two weeks, ending on Nov. 28.

David Essel from Florida, who has traveled to New York with his brother Terry, says the video excited his interest to go to China for a visit.

Very impressive, it's extremely impressive, looks beautiful. I think it looks absolutely stunning 6, it looks gorgeous, beautiful. This is probably the best place in New York to put it, right at the Times Square, there's nothing that attracts more tourists and more people than the Times Square. I think this is brilliant, brilliant idea to put the video there.

At the same time, Jenny Wei, a Chinese who has lived in New York for over twenty years, says she's happy to find the video here, so that people here would learn more about her home country.

I love it, and I'm happy to see it. I think it's really wonderful to have more Chinese elements displayed here, so that more people, including native Americans and tourists who have traveled here from across the world, would have better knowledge about China, including China's beautiful sceneries, new outlook, etc. I hope more tourists would pay visits to China.

The video, posted by China National Tourism Administration and China Public Diplomacy 7 Association, is a prelude 8 to the launching of the closing ceremony of the 2016 China-U.S. Tourism Year, as well as a grand event where 5,000 Chinese tourists are expected to visit major U.S.cities in late November.

The various events and activities hosted during the China-US Tourism Year are aimed at promoting a steady two-way tourist flow between U.S. and China, in a bid to realize the goal of 5 million trips between the two nations in 2016.

China has become the No. 1 travel destination for US tourists in Asia-Pacific, and the U.S. is the third biggest source country of tourists traveling to China.

For CRI, this is Qian Shanming from New York.
